Telna and Bayobab link platforms for operator travel eSIMs in Africa
Telna CONNECT and Bayobab's IPX network are intended to help operators introduce branded travel eSIM services, although markets and launch dates remain undisclosed.

The partnership in practical terms
Telna announced an agreement with MTN Digital Infrastructure, Bayobab's parent company, on 10 August. The companies plan to combine Telna's CONNECT service-enablement platform with Bayobab's international IPX capabilities so that operating companies can offer travel eSIM products through their own digital channels.
This is an infrastructure and distribution arrangement for future services across multiple African markets. The announcement does not identify a live operator storefront, so it should not be read as the commercial launch of a plan that travellers can already purchase.
How the infrastructure is divided
CONNECT supplies the digital enablement layer. Telna says its managed offer can cover a branded web store or app, marketing and customer support, giving an operator a prepared route into travel connectivity. Bayobab contributes the IPX services that carry international connectivity behind activation and usage across participating networks.
The arrangement is designed to let an operator retain its own customer-facing brand while relying on shared wholesale infrastructure. Telna's release does not provide an integration diagram, a list of connected networks or the commercial requirements an operator must meet to participate.
What operators and travellers could gain
For an operator, the partnership offers a shorter path to a branded travel-eSIM storefront instead of building every commercial and connectivity component independently. A participating company could keep the purchase journey in its own channel while sourcing the underlying enablement and international connection from the two partners.
Travellers may eventually see more travel eSIM offers presented by familiar local operators. The platform announcement alone establishes nothing about price, coverage, allowance, handset support or service quality, however. Those details depend on the products that individual operators decide to launch.
The questions left unanswered
The sole corporate source names no launch countries, participating operators, first-sale date or destination catalogue. It also contains no plan terms, refund rules, activation instructions, adoption figures or customer-performance evidence.
eSIM.press has not tested CONNECT or completed a purchase or activation through the planned channel. The evidence confirms the partnership and the stated division of responsibilities between Telna and Bayobab; availability and value for a particular trip remain unknown.
